Provision of an HFIP for the Future Rapid EffectS (FRES) tender. This included a baselining of current vehicles in scope and the resultant HFIP was used to support the Boeing FRES Invitation To Tender (ITT) and was thus a key deliverable.

Paul scoped the workpackages for the Boeing tender and provided a HFIP part 1 as part of the deliverables. Specific workpackages by each vehicle variant were also detailed within the HFIP.

Watchkeeper IPT, Human Factors Independent Safety Assessor/Human Error Analysis of Watchkeeper Operations

As part of support to the Watchkeeper Safety Case, Paul scoped and elicited a number of human errors that were subject to formal quantified human error assessment. Errors assessed included ground-based operations, maintenance errors and launch and recovery of the Unmanned Air Vehicle.

Paul was also the project's ISA for Human Factors issues. The ISA activity made a key number of Human Factors recommendations to improve maintainability, operability and human performance.

MoD Battlefield and Tactical Communications & Information Systems User Centred Design/Human Factors Integration Subject Matter Expert

Paul Traub Associates have been contracted to derive MoD (and assure Supplier) UCD/HFI processes and artefacts for the development of a number of applications on an open defence system using an Agile approach. This includes a mission critical and safety related application known as the Battle Management Application.

This work has included provision of an alarm management strategy, elicitation of UCD assurance metrics and guidance on subjective and objective measures of usability for a mission planning and deployment application. Detailed usability reviews of the system as part of Programme Increments (PI) and assessment of evolving Human Machine Interface (HMI) specifications for use on Platforms and at Headquarters is a core part of this work.

General Dynamics-Mission Systems- UX Architect Evolve to Open (EvO) Project

Paul Traub Associates were contracted to support the design of the HMI of the future EvO System. This involved intensive and numerous user workshops (discovery) with range of Army Users and also design sprints to test the candidate designs. This was done to derive and assure robust user requirements for EvO design.

Work included a detailed assessment of Defence Standard 02-09, Generic Vehicle Architecture (GVA) in terms of HMI requirements and Alarm design in terms of gaps/conflicts against Defence Standard 00-251 and EEMUA 191 Alarm systems. This has derived a new set of consolidated SMART Systems Requirements for MoD use and apply.
